Basic Rules
Well, if you don't know how to role play then I can't really explain it all here, but try going here. It should help.
How many characters can I roleplay?
You can play as many characters as you want as long as you play them all regularly. Also remember, sometimes having two many characters can get really confusing, so don't be afraid to kill some off every now and then. They can always join Spirit Pack later if you miss them. Another reminder is that the point of role-playing is to interact with other people, not just your own characters. That would be more like writing a story.
Yes you can, but If you plan on giving your character powers make sure you read the section on power specifics, understand all the rules, and get your power approved by me.
You may not kill another person's character without permission. If they want you to they will let you know, or you can ask, but If they say no then don't go against their wishes and kill the character anyways. Some characters exist with the sole purpose to be killed, like the wolves in the Puppy Bowl. However, if somone is playing a character in the Bowl it is still a good Idea to ask permission for killing because they may have another death in mind for the character or they may not want to lose the character just yet.
Powerplaying is taking over somone else's character, and it is completly against the rules. The most severe type is when you pretend to be the other person and have their characters do or say things that the character's owner does not want them to do. However, saying what somone else's character does while your playing your own character is also powerplaying.
When you god-mode, you act like your character is invincible, or in some way better then all the others. This is like proclaiming your character a god among men. Even superman has his kryptonite, so characters without weaknesses are not acceptable. Even if your characters have powers, and other characters don't, your superiority is limited. Just remember that when you're role-playing, this isn't about just what you want, its everyone's game. Try to stick to the policy of winning some and losing some, especially in battles. For instance, someone attacks you, but you really don't want your character hurt. A good compromise would be to say that your character tried to dodge and was instead grazed by the attack and was wounded, but not as much as the attacker intended. This is far better then saying you dodged like a ninja and attacked the other character without receiving so much as a scratch.
Although when it gets very late it might become looser, foul language is prohibited for a number of reasons. Even if you are allowed to use it in real life, please refrain from using it here. especially in the day time. The main reason is that anyone can get on this site, including little kids, and often parents don't like their children exposed to bad words. Another reason is simply the fact that we don't need them, though often we believe we do. Would wolves curse? Probably not; they may call someone a birdbrain or a flea-bitten mongrel, which can have just as much of an impact as a bad word, and sounds a lot nicer on a public chat.
What do you consider inappropriate?
A great deal of things, actualy. The bottom line is if you wouldn't say it infront of your mother or your first grade teacher, don't say it here. That is mainly more regarding inapproprite comments, but be carful with actions on role play too. Make sure you know what other people who are playing don't like. For example, if there is a fight and you know that someone playing doesn't like gore, then you should cut back on the gruseome details a bit. We usualy try to keep everything PG on this site, though sometimes battles can get a little more messy.
Will I be deleted if I leave for a while?
Well how long is "a while?" If you are gone for a few months, then yes your character probably will be removed. I normally save descriptions when I remove characters, so if you do come back let me know you've been removed and I'll re-add you. If you know in advance that you're going to be gone for a while then please let me know so I don't think you just fell off the end of the planet. Another thing to remember is life goes on when your not on, meaning that if you miss a while you may be confused as to what’s going on. If you ask someone I'm sure he or she will be more then happy to fill you in.
Joining
Do I have to make a description?
If you are making a permanent character, then yes you do. However if it is a temporary character, like a random hunter to join in on a hunt one time, then no you do not. Also, for those looking at the site and wanting to try it out before joining, you do not have to make a chatacter, simply make up a name, roleplay for a bit, and if you like it then join. If you don't understand how to make a description, or need help, let me know. You do not need a picture but I recremend it.
May I use any picture for my character?
Copyright rules copyright rules copyright rules.... Since this is just a simple role-play site for kids and teens I'm not going to fuss at anyone for the copyright rules. As long as you don't claim someone else's photo as your own piece. If you want to be on the safe side, though, it's always a good idea to check if you can use an image with the artist, or find something that is copywrited. For extra fun, try drawing your own character! You can make them exactly the way you want them when you do that, and you don't have to worry about any copyright rules.
Besides copyright, there's also the matter of appropriate images. This is more of a concern for pictures of humans. If you wouldn't show the image to a kid, then it probably isn't a good idea to add it. If you're unsure, please ask.
Chosing a pack to suit your character is very important. You have to be sure that whatever pack you pick suits their persinatlity. Remember that Mist is for good wolves, Storm for bad, and Hail is in between, for wolves with grudges. Don't forget about the longers and rouges and banchos. Loners prefer to be alone, rouges were exhiled from their packs, and banchos are wolves in a group that hunts down bad wolves. You may also chose to be a Guardian, also know as an angel, or a Fallen, commonly known as a demon.
Is there a quiz to match your wolf to a pack?
One pack persinality quiz coming up. Short, sweet, and quick here ya go. Click here
Power Specifics
How many powers can my character have?
Under most circumstances only one power is allowed. However, sometimes there are special exceptions. For example, a wolf that can control fire may also be able to light up in dark places simply because fire produces light. A wolf that controls ice may also be able to make it snow, but usually only if the weather is already cold or the snow only encompasses a small area. In other words, the second power would be a tiny addition provided by your main power. But having the ability to control water as well as super speed, for instance, is not allowed because both these abilities are big and they do not affect each other.
Are there any powers that we are not allowed to have?
Yes, you may not have the power to completly control somone else's character. If you want mind control, it would have to only be to a certain extent, and wolves would be able to break out of it. You may also not have the power to bring wolves back from the dead, to kill another wolf instantly, or to make another wolf fall in love with you. Basicaly, powers can not be used in ways that could be considered powerplaying or godmodding. No one can be invicipal and with your powers but also come weaknesses. The greater the power, the greater the weakness.
Of course not! There definatly need to be some normal wolves too. Your character does not have to have powers, and I recomend keeping some without powers so you have a good balence.
Won't normal wolves be at a disadvantage?
Well yes and no. It is true that wolves without powers will not be able to face a fully rested wolf with powers in a short match under perfect conditions, but that doesn't mean that they are no match for a power wolf under other circumstances. For instance, a fire wolf may be weakened in a wet area, and using powers wears out some wolves very quickly. When super wolves are tired they may not have the energy to use their powers properly, and learning how to control special abilities takes some practice. Also, occasionally powers will be blocked, and wolves that have them will then be at a disadvantage because they never learned to fight without their abilities.
A power block is just what it sounds like, a block from powers. This means that wolves with special abilities can't use them when they are affected by the power block. Most of the times these blocks are created by Spirit Pack to even the battlefield, or for some other reason. Sometimes certain areas block powers, and other times Guardians will come down and ban the use of powers. Power blocks may also be caused by wolves whoes power it is to block powers, or by some other strange force. When power blocks are activated, wolves that usualy do not have abilties now have an advantage over the super wolves.
Why do normal wolves have advantages over super wolves during the power block?
Imagine you could teloport places since you were born. So you spent your life teloporting from one place to the next instead of walking. If you had to run a race against your friend, who never had that ability and ran everywhere, would you be likley to win? It is the same with all of the powers. When wolves have powers, they typically rely on them a lot. Therefore, when they are blocked from using their powers, there not as good of fighters as the wolves who have spent their entire lives without powers.
Contests and Fanart
There are normaly contests quite often and they are open for entry at any time. These contests are general and ongoing, there arn't really many prizes. However, sometimes there are special contests. These will usualy be around a special event. Often times there are prizes offered. When entering a special contest, entries are anonomus. Please send your entry to me, and let other members vote on their favorite entries.
The prizes range depending on what is going on or what the contest is about and what is going on at the time, but usualy they will be things like your own secret place, or permission to write a mini prophecy.
Well it is easiest if you can get the art on the internet like deviantart of photobucket, but if you can't, then you may send the files too my email if you need too let me know.
Advanced/Beginner Areas
Advanced Areas are zones on the site that are set aside for older members only. They may also be reffered to as PG-13 Areas, and members younger then this age are not permitted to play there.
Advanced Areas supply a spot folr older members to role play more dramatic scenes or touch topics. They may include very violent material, foul language, concepts not appropriate for children, or simply roleplays to high of a level for beginners to keep up with.
So Are There Areas For Younger Members?
Yes. We've got to keep it even! There are Beginner Areas, which may also be refered to as G areas. These areas will contain no harsh topics at and will be completly apropriate for kids of all ages. (So no talk of murder, no big fights, simple, easily comprehendable rp is used, ect)
Why Was This Area Made This Level?
Areas may be made advanced or beginner for diffrent reasons. For example, Suicide Falls is advanced because suicide is a touchy topic that I do not want kids exposed to, but the Deep Plains are advanced just because I wanted to put at least one of each level in every pack. Some people may think it's not fair, but there are plenty of places to role play. So setting a few aside for either more or less intense role play should be perfectly okay.
Can Members Ask To Change Area Levels?
You can certainly ask, but that doesn't mean they will be changed. First, you'd need to supply an arguable point, second, multiple members would have to support your argument. If you can do both of these, I'll consider changing it, but remember, no matter how many people like or don't like something, theres always someone that thinks the other way. Be considerate of what others want and need as well
What Are The Main Rules Concerning Advanced Areas?
If an area is labled as advanced, and you are not old enough to roleplay there, then do not look at it. Do not read the description. Do not read the role play, and do not try to role play there. If you do any of those, you will be exposing yourself to things that may not be appropriate. My job is to make sure all of the members are happy and keep mist as an open and loving envirnment. Younger members, if you try and watch the advanced areas, I'll have to destroy them and it will ruin the fun for everyone. Plus, you won't get to play in a special spot when you are older. And older members, these areas are for you to be a bit more free as far as what you say and what you do, but don't take advantage of it. There's no reason to curse every post, or have scenes that are far to brutal to read. Don't abuse the freedom I'm giving you.
